As the season draws to a close, we have just two fixtures remaining—both against Easterhouse, home and away—which promise to be tough challenges.

Despite the campaign not yet being over, our preparations for next season are already well underway. The coaching staff and I have been out watching games and identifying players we hope to bring in. Meanwhile, our new season ticket sales are going well, and interest in the club continues to grow.

Reflecting on this season, we’ve taken big strides forward as a club. That said, those who know us will know we’re impatient by nature—we’d love the progress to be quicker. But we’re also realistic. Rebuilding a football club takes time, and we’re committed to doing it properly so that Saltcoats Victoria can once again be a side that challenges at the top.

We’ve had a young squad this year, and many of the players needed 20 to 30 games under their belt to gain valuable experience. That development will pay dividends next season. Offensively, we’ve done well—scoring over 60 goals—but defensively, we’ve conceded far too many. We’ve gone through six goalkeepers this season, which simply isn’t sustainable. Establishing a consistent backline will be a key focus over the summer.

In terms of performances, we’ve played some really good football. Realistically, we could have had another 10 points on the board—possibly more. We’ve taken points from strong teams like Knightswood, Kello, Rossvale, and Eglinton. Our 7–1 away win at East Kilbride was a particular highlight. We should have beaten Knightswood at home and taken full points from Rossvale twice. So while we’ve achieved a lot, we know there’s still much more to come.

I often think back to our first home game after returning to the club. At that time, we had no clubhouse, no canteen, no office, and very little support beyond our loyal group of Pat, Colin, and Ronnie. Fast forward to today, and we now have a vibrant clubhouse, a busy canteen, a dedicated club office, and major plans for future development. Our matchday attendances have grown significantly, and our committee has worked wonders—particularly in attracting new sponsors from our local community.

I’m extremely proud to be the manager of Saltcoats Victoria. We are excited for what lies ahead and determined to keep building momentum, both on and off the pitch.

We recently sat down with midfielderEuan Andersonto speak to him about his thoughts on the season so far, his personal performances, and the strong bond within the squad. With the team picking up momentum, Euan reflected on what’s been working on and off the pitch.Squad Progress and Steady ImprovementEuan has been part of the Saltcoats Victoria setup for some time now and has witnessed the club’s steady progress. Speaking about his experience so far, he was full of optimism.”It’s been good so far, especially seeing the progress we’re making as a squad and as a club. Everything is moving in the right direction, and we’re improving all the time. There’s a real belief in what we’re doing.”Overcoming Challenges and Hitting FormThe season has had its share of highs and lows, but Euan believes the team has turned a corner in recent weeks.”We had a promising start before hitting a bit of a bumpy patch in the middle, but we’ve steadied things now and are putting in strong performances with results to match. For me personally, it’s been decent, but I know I’m capable of more, so I just need to keep making sure I’m doing the right things.”With the squad regaining consistency, there’s a renewed sense of confidence heading into the latter stages of the season.Dressing Room Spirit and Key CharactersA strong team spirit is crucial to any squad, and Saltcoats Victoria’s dressing room is no exception. Euan gave us an insight into the atmosphere behind the scenes.”The atmosphere has been good among the lads. Even when things weren’t going our way, we’ve kept positive, and it’s paying off now. Everyone plays their part in the dressing room, but I think Kieran Hollis would be annoyed if I didn’t give him a shout as the biggest character!”The Gaffer’s InfluenceEvery successful team needs strong leadership, and Euan had high praise for managerStevie Wilsonand his coaching team.”Stevie’s been great—he doesn’t mess about, and all the boys respect that. A lot of managers at this level can get bogged down in the details, but he makes sure we’re always working harder than the opposition and doing the basics properly. It wouldn’t be fair not to mention the whole coaching team because they all play a big part in preparing us every week.”A Midfielder on the ScoresheetOne of the standout aspects of Euan’s recent form has been his eye for goal, and he had a light-hearted response when asked about his newfound scoring touch.”It’s got to be the bright boots—must be blinding the defenders!”However, he was quick to highlight the importance of his strike partnerRossin his recent success.”A big part of this is down to the partnership I’ve got with big Ross. Saltcoats Victoria F.C. is heartbroken and furious to confirm that our clubhouse at Campbell Park has once again been broken into—this time on the evening of Saturday, 31st May 2025, just days after a previous break-in on 23rd May.

Let us be clear: Saltcoats Victoria is a small, volunteer-run football club, built entirely by the hard work, passion, and goodwill of local people. After the first incident, we did everything we possibly could to secure the targeted access point while we awaited full repairs. Despite this, these reprobates returned and violated our space once again.

To those responsible, we hope you enjoyed the last drops of nearly empty bottles you helped yourselves to. If that’s what you’re willing to steal, it says a lot more about you than it does about us. You didn’t just take from a building—you took from a community working to do something positive.

This isn’t just criminal behaviour—it’s an attack on the spirit of a club kept alive by volunteers, supporters, families, and players. Every time this happens, it means more money, more damage, and more heartbreak for people who are already giving up their free time to support local football.

We’re now appealing to the public for two things:

• Help us identify these degenerates: If you saw or heard anything suspicious around Campbell Park on Saturday night, please come forward.

• Support us in any way you can: Whether that means helping with repairs, donating, or even just sharing this message—it all helps.
